Diagnosis

The Interventional Pain Doctors team of orthopedic pain management specialists can diagnose the source of foot and ankle pain during a comprehensive history, physical examination, and imaging such as X-ray, CT Scan, ultrasound, MRI and/or lab tests.

Causes

Pain in the foot and ankle can be grouped into several categories:

• Referred pain from the back, hip, or knee
• Soft tissue injuries including the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia
• Bone injuries including fractures, stress fractures, and arthritis
• Infection or gout
• Diabetic peripheral neuropathy

Treatments

Depending on the cause of your foot and ankle pain, you may be a good candidate for:

• Physical therapy, rest, ice, NSAIDS, elevation
• PRP therapy
